Once a week I do as much cardio as my body can handle. I step onto the treadmill and start turning up the speed. As I ran this past week I realized something about running.

The harder you push yourself, the more it hurts.

Even though it’s good for your body, running always hurts in the moment. As you grow in strength, and improve in form, your body goes through pain and exhaustion.

It’s a process. Run, rest, drink, and run some more. This time faster.

This natural process is mirrored in life when we begin something new, different, or challenging. It isn’t comfortable. It hurts and we see signs of failure.

Failure is perhaps the biggest hurdle to the great things that lay beyond.

There is no accomplishment without failure. Though it points out our flaws, highlights our weaknesses, and hits us when we are most vulnerable, failure is also the most prominent signpost on the road to success.
