Woodworking has been a form of therapy for me the past couple of years. It is an avenue that allows me to unwind and create something unique out of a pile of lumber. I have always loved taking rough, sawmill fresh boards and turning them into artwork that could be a centerpiece on a table or wall. Bowls and frames have been some of my favorite things to make.

When I signed up for the world race, I was intimidated by the amount of support I needed to raise. Upon brainstorming different methods to raise support, it was brought to my attention that I could give my bowls and frames as presents for generous donations. Since I was still a beginner at creating these, I didn’t know if they were even something that people would want. My parents, especially my dad, assured me that they were amazing and that he was sure that people would love to have them. It was then that I decided to use one of my favorite hobbies as a fundraising opportunity.
So far, the amount of support has been unreal. I have received donations so generous I didn’t even know how to respond. There have even been people I don’t know making donations because they want one of my projects. Lets just say that this is way beyond any of my expectations.
All I can say is that I am incredibly blessed! I am blessed to have the creativity, patience, equipment, and skills to make these bowls and frames. I am also incredibly blessed to be surrounded by generous people that are willing to aide in funding my trip.
God has truly shown up and has helped me find joy in my fundraising.
