Last week I got to introduce you to Tamarita and our ministry for the month of Ecuador: COVI. This week I wanted to share a little bit about how our team, Awaken, is partnering with them this month to help serve the children there and make a lasting impact on this ministry that is helping the community of Quito so much!

As I mentioned last week, COVI is a free program for kids before and after school that provides a safe place for them to get a free meal, learn a bible lesson, get help with their homework, and play games with their peers and volunteers. This ministry is run entirely from donations and generous volunteers from Quito and all over the world who have a passion for providing quality life for these kids and setting them up for success in their future and deterring them from getting involved in detrimental activities.

Our volunteering jobs this month include:

Preparing and maintaining a garden that will supply the ministry with a cheap, healthy, organic way to feed the children for years to come.

Cooking and preparing the free lunch for the kids.

Pray with the kids.

Serving the kids the meals.

Washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen after meals.

Building relationships with the kids and showing how much we care for them and love them.

Prepare and facilitate bible lessons.

Serving the kids snacks.

Help the kids with homework.

Teach the kids English.

Cleaning the facility after the kids after the kids leave.

Filming and editing a documentary promoting Tamaritas vision and ministry.

Building long lasting relationships with the COVi workers.

And of course playing games and sports with the kids which surpasses all language barriers!

This ministry has done great things for the children of Quito for over ten years and has given them a safe place to learn and grow. Tamarita is the most loving old lady I have met and the children have an utmost respect for her whether she is teaching them or disciplining them. The is an amazing woman of God and implements biblical teaching and worship songs and prayer in all of the kids activities as well as give them a great example of unconditional love!

Thank you for all of your support so far and continue to pray for the volunteers and children of COVi as the Lord continues to use this place as a refuge and growing spot for these children of Quito!
