Helmet of
salvation
On its surface, this armament would seem to be permanently
affixed to one’s head.
Once saved,
always saved, right?
However,
understanding that Jesus saves us when we make him our Lord, we are compelled
to check to see whether in our lives we are truly making him our Lord.
Do we have a whole & hungry spirit, as
befits a subject of the King?
Or are we
saddled with doubts?
Do we acknowledge
him in all our ways?
Is he directing our
paths? Furthermore, if Jesus is Lord, then my relationship with Him is not a
fixed and static thing; it is constantly growing.
The Lordship that gives us the assurance of
salvation also protects us from distraction, keeping us focused on Kingdom
issues.
Our spirits are whole, not
impaired by past hurts or our own compromises.
We have worked through our significance in Christ questions.
We have eliminated the strongholds that have
allowed demonic activity to persist in our lives.
Specific steps
While this may seem to be a fuzzy issue to get one’s arms
around, there are many concrete steps the young warrior can take to acquire a
whole and hungry spirit.
- Schedule
a conversation to work through the assurance of salvation issue. - Fast
and pray that the Lord would increase your hunger level. - Study
what the Bible says about your significance in Christ. - Choose
to hang around other hungry Christians. - Go
through prayer for healing of emotions. - Go
through prayer for deliverance. - Make a
decision to pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus. - Make a
decision to allow Jesus to be Lord.
Measuring progress
How is progress measured?
The role of a discipler is particularly significant.
A discipler must first help his or her young
warrior identify this as an important issue that needs to be put on the radar
screen.
