With summer here, I’d like to lay out what’s ahead for you. Below I list some of the preparation work that we are doing now as well as our expectations through September. Please read this and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Right Now

1. A few of you still need to get in deposits.

2. Everyone needs to begin raising support. Please send us an email detailing your support raising plans. Also, please post this letter to your online blog. This is important because it will take a good half a year to build the momentum you need to take you thru a whole year on the field. If we see that you are sitting on the fence on this issue, we will be forced to give away your spot on the team and ask you to go on a later team. There are too many people who really want to do this for us to wonder if you are going to really engage in the process.

3. Make plans to join us for the September 6-21 training. If for some reason you will not be able to make this training, please let us know immediately.

4. Begin going thru the reading list below.

Aug. 6-Sept. 6 Fasting & Prayer for this Generation

God is up to something big, something much bigger than the World Race. He is moving to call out a remnant from this generation – a group of Gideons who are willing to count the cost and pay the price. We want to lay the groundwork for this call with a month of prayer and fasting. Your participation in this is up to you.

Sept. 6 Clear Call Conference in Gainesville

The Lord has been laying a vision on us based on this passage: 1 Cor. 14:8 “If a trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for the battle?”

There are 150 people being sent out to the nations for a year thru AIM who will be attending this conference. In addition to the World Race, our First Year Missions teams will also be sent out for a year and we’ll depart at the end of the conference.

Speakers at this conference include Tom Davis, Gary Black, Andrew Shearman, Ron Walborn, Wanda Walborn, Ben Messner, Scott Borg, Mary Beth Swan, and myself. We will be led in worship by Isa. Let me tell you, this is a world class line up. We believe that this will be two weeks that will absolutely change your life.

June Reading List

Morgan was asking about a book list. Here are a few for next month. They are not required, but they would be good to read at some point.

Surprised by the Power of the Spirit” by J. Deere (will help you understand what God is doing on the earth at present)

Bruchko” by Bruce Olsen (the most exciting story of a young person doing mission work anywhere)

Daring to Live on the Edge” by L. Cunningham (stories of radical faith in depending on God)

July Reading/Training

We’re going to break you guys into small groups on line (guys groups and gals groups) to go through “The Art of Listening Prayer.” That will help you hone your ability to hear the Lord’s voice. You will want to order the book now thru www.missionsresources.com. You may want to begin going thru it in advance.

August-October Reading/Training

We will take you thru an on line group going thru “The Warrior’s Journal.”  The book and the mentoring we provide as we go thru it will equip you to take part in the Lord’s work of establishing his reign and rule on the earth.

Next Year Reading List

Once on the trip, we have a series of books we’ll be taking you thru, including “Acts of the Holy Spirit” (a study of the greatest missionary book ever written – the book of Acts), “Fields of the Fatherless” (a book on orphan ministry), and books by authors like Henri Nouwen and Brennan Manning.

World Race Book

I’m currently in the process of writing a book about the World Race if anyone is interested in helping with that.

A Second World Race

Because we have received over 300 applications, we are recruiting a second set of World Race teams. Their route will parallel yours, but will be different. This will give us greater flexibility in how we debrief and train you. It will also enable our media team to cover both races.

Media Team

You and your friends are eligible for this. The team will participate in the race, but will have media work and communication as a primary ministry. We want to broadcast the progress of the teams to churches around the U.S.
