Hey guys – as I see it, there are three blatant ministries we have for this next year.
1. Hands on ministry in our various locations.
2. Ministry to our family and friends and supporters at home.
3. Ministry to each other.
#2 – Ministry to our family and friends and supporters at home. I would say we are 1 in 10,000 (yes, I pulled that number out of nowhere). One in ten thousand will take a year out of their lives to travel around the world and do ministry. Our teammates at home need to hear about our journeys, our travails and our rejoicing. The best way to make them feel included is to begin posting and writing now. Our EZine Editor in Chief for this next year, Jeff Goins, wrote an article on how to blog intentionally (so it isn’t just a bunch of randomness). I’ll post it after this – it’s very helpful. Check it out.
So far we’re doing good. Here are a couple of things that I’ve noticed so far that are good. Josh – your article on the hitchiker was great! That’s how you get people involved. Kari – you’ve been writing fairly consistently about your life and the whole prep process, good job! Consistency is key. Morgan has done a great job of involving her community by including pictures of them online, this makes it more of a team thing. Spano has picked a theme on music for his blog – great, it brings focus. Hope this helps motivate you some and gets you excited about whats to come.
In addition, you will need encouragement. You know how good you feel when people leave you a comment on your myspace page? This is what you are REALLY going to want to feel on the field next year. When we are going through it, it’s going to feel so good to know that we are loved and people are thinking about us at home.
Perhaps we could have a contest for whoever gets people to leave the most comments on their blogs over the next two weeks gets a prize (I know a guy who might make it worth our while – like maybe a $10 gift card to REI…Daddy????:) 🙂 I’ll ask!
Anyhoo, you guys are my heros. I love ya’ll!
