Laptop Safety…
Don’t let it be noticed. Don’t carry an obviouslaptop bag or use it in any public places. In general, talk to your local contacts about “how to be safe.” They will know whether it’s safer to carry it with you or safer to leave it at your “house.” In cases where you aren’t with a local contact, I’d probably keep it on me or keep it hidden. Locks and security…
A small luggage lock is usually fine. Remember SAVE WEIGHT! You won’t need to use a luggage lock very often, but at times it will come in handy. Anybody who wants in your stuff that bad won’t be deterred whether it’s a small lock or a gigantic padlock with key and combination. Most of the stuff you’re carrying could be opened with a knife anyway. So bring a small luggage lock to scare off the petty theives and like the website says “prepare for the worst” with the more serious theives.
I know this is the hardest time for you guys… packing up and saying goodbye. You’re realizing the hard part right now and don’t yet have the excitement of starting (that came for me on the 2nd of3 flights to Mexico :)) … Know that we are proud of you… excited for you… and standing with you in prayer.
