Hey everyone! My name is Will and welcome to my blog!
I’m 26 years young and grew up in Troy, Michigan, a suburb just north of Detroit. I am a son of two loving parents as well as a brother to a wonderful little sister. I was born in Evanston, Illinois and at the very young age of 1 month, I was adopted by my loving and caring parents. I have been blessed to have been raised in a Christian home which has helped me become the man I am today.
Growing up, I played all kinds of sports, but some how fell in love with the game of golf. After graduating high school, I attended a small school in North Carolina called Methodist University. I studied Business Administration with a concentration in Professional Golf Management and graduated in December of 2013. I started my golf career at TPC Deere Run in the Quad Cities and after spending 2 years there, I moved to Dallas to work at another golf club, TPC Craig Ranch. Most recently I moved up to Chicago, Illinois to take a teaching position at a facility called SMART Golf & Fitness Instruction. My job consists of teaching people of all ages and skill levels how to play the game of golf.
With golf being one of my passions, my other passion is missionary work and serving others. I took my first mission trip to Mexicali, Mexico when I was a sophomore in high school. It was during that trip that God opened my eyes and my heart to things outside of my own little world. God started to put this desire in my heart to think less about myself and more about others. Since then, I’ve been on a total of 8 international mission trips throughout the Caribbean and Central America, all throughout my time in college.
After graduating college, I had began to have strong feelings of becoming a missionary. I continued to pray and ask God about the desires and plans he had for me. I became aware of the World Race when I was in college, but God seemed to have a different plan for me. After graduation, my golf career began, but I still seemed to wrestle with the desire of mission work. Thankfully, I believe that God used that time to help prepare my heart and mind for this current opportunity to become a missionary and go on the World Race. Looking back, I thank God for patiently waiting to give me this opportunity to pursue this passion of mine.
My hopes for the World Race is to preach the gospel to those who have never heard it along with helping and serving those in need. Likewise, I hope that I continue to trust the Lord in everything that I do. Leaving everything behind, including a job, family, friends, possessions, and much more takes a huge leap of faith. But taking that step is much easier knowing that God is faithful, compassionate, and loving, and will provide for my every need.
I’m so excited of this upcoming journey and I can’t wait to launch in August 2017. Please keep me and my team in your thoughts and prayers as we continue build the Kingdom of God.
