This place is pretty rocking.. We walk to the ministry site daily. M y team,
Team Reckless, has the worst of the worst! HA We are in Guachu Pita which is the slums of slums. We live about 30 minutes from there, and we
walk there each morning, and back to the house in the afternoon. Then at 4:30
we head back out there until 7:30, so my already ginormous legs are probably
getting bigger! AGHHHHH

Guachu Pita is listed
a “Non-Livable” area according to the government, as it is surrounded by 2
small rivers that flood during the hurricanes and major storms. There are
probably about 400 people in the community and about 75 of them are under the
age of 10 I would say. There is a nasty spirit in that place. From rape to some
sort of witch craft, prostitution to alcoholism. The people however are kind,
welcoming, and full of hope. God is a shining light in this place. You can tell
that there is a small hunger that appears to be growing. Our leads for the
project are Miguel and his wife Kristen along with a 21 year old chica named
Emily.

We are doing a VBS with the BILLIONS of kids in the
community. They are NUTS! They long for attention, they want to hold our hands,
be held, be thrown, and wrestle. They are a blast. My heart has me looking for
the older kids 16+ and adults. I know part of our project is VBS, but I am just
distracted by the desire for these other people. I met a 24 year old man named
William, who I figured HAD to be cool because of his name and age, who lives in
the community. My spirit is so drawn to him it is crazy! I think God is going
to do something amazing in his life. He knows of God, but does not want to
commit his life to him right now. I think God is laying some stuff on my heart
for William, but right now I am just waiting for clarity. Be in prayer for
William, that his heart is open and ready, that the Holy Spirit will begin to
convict his heart of alcoholism, that he will desire a change. Pray for me and
the words God is laying on my heart.

Also in that community we will be digging out a huge trench
for water to run out of the town and into the river. Then, pouring concrete and
laying metal slabs across as a walk-way. It is going to be a LOT of work..

Other stuff going on is just that a ton of people have got
the squirts! HAHA People are hitting the toilet like a bunch of
Dominican kids hitting a piñata! I fortunately have been blessed thus far and
though I have eaten all sorts of things I should not have, I have not gotten
sick! (PrAISE GOD!) Anywho, pictures
will start being posted in a few days as we were asked not to take photos the
first few days until we built relationships with the people..
