So, here I am aboard the ugly GGS Atlantic. She is truly not appealing to the eyes, more like appalling…
Well what is ugly on the outside is at times beautiful on the inside.
This much is true for this ship. The crew is amazing. A bunch of Phillipino guys full of laughs and good spirits. It is encouraging to sit with them and shoot the breeze.
The food is amazing. I have eaten fish every days practically since I have been on here. (Speaking of which, I would really like sushi! So anyone up for going out with me, it is on soon as I get back into town.)
The seas have picked up tonight with 48kt gusts, and 20+ sustained winds. With a nasty storm on our horizons ahead we charge forth!
It is with a smile that I stand on this bow and take the storm head on. For this is not just my reality of today, but more symbolic for how I want to live this life that I live. Not just waiting out the storm, but taking them on, stepping up against the wind and the waves and relying on the joy of our Jesus to be my solid foundation in which I will stand.
Bring on the rain!!!
Well anywho, down to my thoughts…
Today I was reading through luke 9 when I read this:
3He told them: “Take nothing for the journey-no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic. 4Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. 5If people do not welcome you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave their town, as a testimony against them.”
You know, I really hate this part of the trip where I have to ask people for there support… I feel as though I should be doing it all on my own. Well, sometimes God himself tells us to rely on others. I am sure that as the team ventures out into this world there will be many-a-times when we will be relying on the local people to feed us or shelter us. So I guess I may as well get used to it now. I thank you all for the support that you have been giving to this dream. You guys are all amazing, and when I visit you I will keep the dust from your house upon my feet as a testimony to how amazing you all truly are.. (Not literally though, seeing as how dust is made up of like 90% dead skin, that may be a bit gross!)
Father, I thank you for this day. I have seen storms a-plenty approaching my path, and even in the roughest of seas when my compass is lost and my fears and doubts set in, know that I will choose you. Now and forever I will choose you, because to take the risk of another path is to be swept away by the gale forced winds. I thank you Jesus for saving this soul. Holy Spirit, you come and be my guide; be my light. I ask that as I take the drivers seat that you will take the captains chair.
Amen
