Harvest..

                The morning
air chills my cheeks and my coffee mug still warm in my hand, I walk and I
read. I find myself praying aloud for the youth group back home, and as I stood
upon a grass and dirt trail I found my gaze upon a section of field. One
section plowed ready for plant; the next half grown taking in all it can get;
and finally the third, a section full grown. The corn was ready, ready for
harvest.

As I made Phillipians 1 my prayer for my youth, I suddenly
was overtaken with a word from above. Brought back to Mark 4 and the words
Jesus spoke; some seed to rocky ground, and some to the thorns; some seed along
the path, and some will be born. That which is born grows tall and in health,
only made to produce more crop of 30, 60 or even 100 times more.

My thought on it all is the thought of the harvest. The
gypsies and villagers tend their fields so patiently. They work so hard and
this time of year is that of the harvest. This is the time that they reap what
they’ve sewn. This is the time that they harvest their crop.

I think of the harvest that they will take into town. This
crop will travel all around the land, into the stores and into some homes, but
most of all into the hands of those hungry and needing. From there it will do
the thing it was made for. It will give strength to the weak and energy for the
day. It will do what it is that food is to do.

 What leaves their
fields is my prayer for you; that you would be ripe for the harvest, taken from
the place that you’ve grown, and sent into the world to feed the hungry. The
point of the work that many have done, the point of the seeds that so many have
sewn is not that you grow and continue to take, but it was done in a faith that
one day a harvest would come. It was done in a faith that you would be sent
into this world to “feed the hungry”, that you would go and feed the souls of
this earth with the food of the Word.

Are you ready for the harvest? Are you ready to feed the
hungry? Do you get it? Do you understand why people have poured into you? Do
you understand why so many have supported and cared for you? Now will you go?
Will you go out and feed the hungry? Will you go out and do what it is that you
were destined to do? Will you rise up and take action in helping others to
grow? Will you? I believe that it is your time to shine, that it is your time.
So much work has been done, so much labor for this moment. So many hours have
been spent with tender love and care; hoping, just hoping and praying that a
harvest would come. I ask you now to step up and step out. Who will be first?
