God says “Do not fear” more than any other phrase in the Bible. Yet time and time again, we find ourselves afraid. Afraid of falling short, afraid of failure, afraid of embarrassment, afraid of the unknown, ect.
Why is fear so relevant in our lives? Is fear something to be afraid of? Something to be embarrassed about? Something to hide? Something to pretend doesn’t exist?
No. Fear is something to expect. Something to bring to light. Something to share with your community. Something to be vulnerable about. Because to be put simply, fear is being uncomfortable. You fear when you step out of your comfort zone and that isn’t something to be afraid of. Because by the grace of God, when we step out of our comfort zone, we receive the ultimate comforter; the Holy Spirit. So I thank God for sending me his son to leave behind his Holy Spirit because the spirit calls me out upon the waters. It leads me in paths of righteousness, and it comforts me. I can throw everything at the feet of Jesus because I know my God is a good father who takes care of his children.
Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation,
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life,
Of whom shall I be afraid?
