My name is Will Gaskins and I will be going on The World Race: Semester Trip to Peru starting this January. If you don’t already know, I am currently taking a Gap Year between graduating high school and starting college at Virginia Tech. This time last year if someone told me that I would be taking a year off of school to travel and serve I would have thought they were crazy. But, the Lord works in ways that we can’t always predict and that for sure has led me to this journey to Peru.

I started off my Gap Year traveling to Kenya for two months where I served at a Children’s Center that offers preschool education and after-school programs for primary school-aged kids. This center also employs local men and women with an aloe vera farm which they use to make soaps, lip balms, and lotions. Throughout my visit, it was incredible to have a glimpse into the lives of the students, parents, and teachers that are all pivotal pieces of the community. It was so hard to leave that special place and the even more special people but I’m excited to get to meet the people of Peru!

Between coming home from Kenya and leaving for Peru, I am interning with a construction company. It has been insightful and exciting to learn about the field that I will be pursuing in college – I am very thankful for the opportunity!

In order to make this trip possible, I have a goal to fundraise $4,900 from donations. If you would like to be a part of this journey and contribute to my trip financially, you can donate through this page. Any contribution is greatly appreciated (and also tax deductible!).

However, finance aside, I would greatly appreciate your prayers as this is an exciting but new season of my life! If I’m being honest, I have no idea what to expect for this journey on The World Race but I’m looking forward to what the Lord has in store for me.

Thank you to everyone who is supporting me and praying for me as I prepare for my time in Peru!
