# 1: Never did I think that I would be playing more volleyball than soccer here in Peru. To my surprise, evening volleyball games have become almost a daily occurrence. These are a few of the ladies that we have had the opportunity to play with and get to know over the first two weeks. They barely speak any English and most of us don’t speak Spanish. However, thanks to a few years of high school Spanish class I have been able to converse very well with these ladies which has been amazing!
# 2 and 3: These pictures are from the Operation Christmas Child event that we held last week. It was so incredible to be involved in this. Rarely does this crazy little girl smile normally, but you can always catch her sticking her tongue out! As for this little boy, he was so excited about every little gift he received and immediately found joy in his new talking stuffed animal.
# 4: Last week we had the chance to help at a monthly free medical campaign that our hosts at Savage Ministries hold for the community. Our host Joel Savage has become great friends with a local doctor who teaches students from all over the world and has helped run the medical campaigns. After each person was treated by a doctor we had the chance to pray for them before they left. This was a great opportunity to share the love of Jesus with people we have been in contact with around the community.
# 5: About 10 nurses/doctors originating from Australia to New Zealand to the USA came to help out at the medical campaign last week. After briefly talking to all of them I came to learn that Alex is in his last semester of Med-School at Virginia Tech and Caitlin graduated a few years ago and actually did the World Race 11 in 11 program. This was such a cool way for the Lord to show me that Virginia Tech is where he wants me to be for college. They say that Hokies are everywhere and I can definitely attest to that. Go Hokies!
