The days seem to be drifting by and I have no control over how quickly they come and go. I am trying so hard to hold onto the last few days of this journey, to give each day my best, but its like trying to grasp oil in your hands, the harder I try, the faster it seems to slip from my grip.

There are so many things I feel right now: excitement, anticipation, sadness, gratitude, it’s a rare hodgepodge of feelings that I have never experienced before.
I am so grateful for where we are this month, our last month on the field. Nepal is kind of like a dream, its so beautiful. We live in the church dorms, at the lowest point in the small town of Dahran, by the river. This area is the place where the “untouchables” caste live. I Hindi societies, they have Caste systems, they are basically predefined socio-economic classifications that you are born into. The Untouchables are the lowest on the ladder and are considered exactly that, untouchable. Their community contains people who have been cast aside: crippled, blind etc. and their families. No one talks to them, touches the, or acknowledges them for that matter, and we live at a bible school/church, right smack in the middle of it.
The Community by the river that we live by
The rest of the people in the town see us walking around every day and our contact, Nanda, says that everyone will wonder why we are staying with the lowest of the low. Why are we living so close to the untouchables? We are Americans, we don’t have to do that. There are nicer churches and a Hotel to stay at, so why do we choose to live in such close proximity to those that society has written off? Nanda says the rest of the town will see us and think these things, and that is a blessing because, us being there and living where we live will call attention to the church and make people start thinking about Jesus, even if in a small way.
Our Dorm at the Bible School
Keep us in your prayers, as this season of our lives comes to a close. I so excited for what God has done this year, and I’m excited about what’s coming next at home.
