Today we are starting a new ministry that has to potential to be really exciting and very moving for the people in this village and the surrounding areas. It was placed on our hearts a few weeks ago to really sit down and train the leaders of these villages on what the Bible actually says and build a solid foundation on absolute truths. So we called several leaders and invited them to come to a weekend conference that we would put on, and we would just take the opportunity to teach straight through the Bible.

The way this works is the men and women will show up today at noon and we will start teaching and go until early Sunday morning. We have several sessions and many people teaching but under the umbrella of two major ideas: foundational Christian living and the storyline of the Bible.

There is so much information to teach and this will be a nonstop weekend so we know that all the information will not sink in. The biggest prayer that the Holy Spirit moves and these men and women hear what they need to hear. Our second biggest prayer is that the language barrier will be broken and even though we will be talking through translators that the Word would not be hindered.

With all this in mind, I had a passage on my mind this morning:

“Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister called Mary, who was sitting at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word. But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:38-42

It’s so easy to get caught up in all the preparation that we forget what the most important thing is in everything. We often forget to just sit at the Lord’s feet and enjoy His presence because we have so much “to do”. Often times we even have an outburst like Martha because we make ourselves so busy that we think doing the dishes or making talk preparations (just an example) is more important than anything else. Is it really?

So I tell you all this to ask for help. We know that with all this information, especially in another country with a different language will be tough, so we have laid a solid foundation of prayer. Even while we teach, a prayer tent will be set up to pray over every session to insure that we’re not doing this out of our own talents or knowledge. So if you have the chance, join us. We know that the prayers of righteous men and women are powerful and effective no matter what the distance is.

So I will attempt to keep this blog up to date over the next 50 or so hours so you can know how things are going and if there are any specific prayer requests. Thanks for the support.
