Sorry it’s a day late.  Lot of traveling yesterday and a fun night, but better late than never…

I love airports.  I think it’s kind of like God’s petry dish or reality show.  It’s so much fun to just watch people and see the reactions to everything that’s going on.  Some people are getting frustrated and yelling at the counters (as frustrating as it gets, I have to repect people that work at those counters), others are reuniting after time apart, while others are saying goodbye.  It really is quite the range of emotions there while all these stories, at least for a second, coincide.

Nick and Alex are father and son and “caught me” praying out loud as the guy in front of me was getting pretty heated with the airline attendant.  He asked me what I thought I was doing.  After the initial shock of having someone over hear my words, I told them I was praying that things would go smoothly today for that man because it looked like not much was going his way.  Nick just smiled at me and started praising God that he overheard me.

Alex is Nick’s younger son and is on the way to spend time with his older brother who is a missionary/teacher in Tokyo.  Alex was very excited about his trip and just getting the chance to travel and experience a different culture.  Nick told me how his older son had devoted his life to the Lord and how Alex, who is a great kid, had just graduated from high school and wanted to take a different route.  Midsentence, Nick just stopped and asked me what I did.  As I told him about my last year and where I was headed, he just stopped me.

Right in the middle of the American Airlines check in counter, Nick began to pray over me and that the Holy Spirit would lead me and guide me.  I felt so encouraged and uplifted.  When he finished up, I looked at Alex and told him it was his turn.  God just began to speak through me as I reminded Alex of the promises in the Word and told him that he could search a lifetime and not find anything more satisfying.  I nearly missed my call in line, but it really didn’t matter.

Alex is a obviously a good kid with a great background, and I’m thankful Nick is letting his son make this life his own.  Nick is trusting that God will do a work in Alex and it’s days like today (I guess yesterday now) that I know give a father hope.  Again, today was a reminder to speak truth when God speaks because we never know the ministry we may have just waiting for us.

I pray for safe travels for Alex and peace over Nick as his younger son goes to find Jesus…
