In doing this project, I know there will be days where time may just get away from me, or something genuinely bigger than meeting someone new comes up.  I’m sorry to say, today is one of those days.  I’m leaving my family (again) for a little over three months tomorrow to head back to the Philippines and for a very short time, we are all together in Dallas.  Needless to say, I’m not planning on leaving their side, or really going out at all for that matter.  Today, my stories will be directed towards them and my time will be devoted and synced to their schedule.

However, so I don’t just use days like today as a cop out, I want to take the opportunity to introduce you to fellow racers on the field in hopes that you will connect with their stories as well.  Some of these may be close to heading home, while others may not have even left yet.
I met Colby at the recent training camp for the June and July 2010 races.  His background is fairly similar to mine: filled with sports and coaching the generation younger than us (plus I think this picture shows a few more similarities…).  In his own words, he’s “just a simple boy” but this southern MAN is taking on a huge task and one minute spent around him will show you the passion he has for reaching out to the world around him.
As I talked with Colby, I could see he was geared up and how ready he was for this year.  I don’t think anyone can truly be prepared for what the World Race has to offer, but openness and humility fueling passion is a good start.  He’s started a video blog at training camp and has been real open and vulnerable with his experiences and it’s something I will keep up with over this next year.  This is a man that’s looking to raise the standards of men all over the world and not put up with passivity or anyone else doing the job God has called him to do.
Good luck Colby.  Go change the world…
