Well I’ve made it to day 50, actually on time, so that has to be some sort of mile marker. So with that, I want to introduce you guys to something really special. It’s not a person this time, but a movement that begins with transformation of the heart and continues with pure worship…
The last several weeks I’ve been asked a handful of times where I go to church out here. My easy answer would be to mention the church that I attend with our volunteers, but I haven’t been able to give that answer yet. I just tell people that I attend Selda 2. It’s fun to watch the confusion on the faces of the locals as they try to figure out where I’m talking about, and they’re sure that I’m mistaken. They’re taken back even farther when I tell them it’s at the city jail.
You see, I have to call this cell my church because we’re a body and a community. We do weekly Bible studies, we worship, we pray, we fellowship, and whenever someone needs something, we join together to provide it. For the first time yesterday, I was allowed to bring in a video camera so I could let you guys see the church that I call my home out here. A few weeks ago, we gave the men a hymnal, but most of our time of singing and praise consists of songs they have written personally. It’s fun to see when they post the lyrics for all to see because the English is a little off, but it’s so powerful to worship with these men.
So, if you can, take some time to worship with my brothers as they sing “Someone is Praying For You”. Every time I leave, I know these men will be praying for my week and my safety, and this song is my reminder. I hope you guys will be blessed by watching these men worship…
Oh, and just for your information
