Dawn is the wife of Rory, the man I wrote about yesterday.  I tried to decide whether or not to put them in the same post, but I had a little bit of extra time, so I decided to write about them individually.  They both have such a big heart to help the people in their area and are both using their gifts to make it happen.  While Rory is using his voice and political standing to get the message out there, Dawn has come alongside him, using her writing skills to widen the audience.  Dawn has jumped on board with the blogging craze and has created a website to bring awareness to the projects they are starting.  Click here to visit.

On her website, she chronicles all that is happening in their area and how anyone can help further their efforts.  Dawn has a love of writing and this is just a cool picture of how two, blessed people, are using their natural giftings to help their fellow man and spread the love of Jesus.  It’s not always about the loud, well spoken, charismatic leaders.  Anyone can take their God given talents and use them to make a huge impact in the community around them.
Like I mentioned yesterday, Dawn and Rory are in the process of creating jobs for the people that live in their town.  One way they are trying to do this is by using what God has given them.  This isn’t limited to their personal talents, but it also includes the unbelievable landscapes that are in their backyards.  They would love to provide visitors with an experience into God’s beautiful creation, and in doing so, they can provide jobs for the local men and women.  This is just one example of empowering people to use what God has blessed them with.
In several situations, it seems like there is no solution.  Take the Philippines for example.  Jobs are scarce and poverty is still on the rise.  Sure, I can help create a handful of jobs, but what good is it if we barely make a dent in the unemployment rate?  The fact of the matter is, God has already given us the solution, and we just need to be diligent in our efforts and wise stewards of what we’ve been given.  We need to be training fishermen instead of passing out fish.  Meeting immediate needs is a huge ministry, but immediate needs rarely go away.  We need long term solutions.
Long term solutions are what Rory and Dawn are focusing on.  We can’t just make quick fixes for these people.  Surely there’s something more we can do…
