Lea and her brother Michael came over here from Germany.  Both of them are a few years younger than me, but they’ve decided to spend their break from school by doing a little traveling, but also serving a ministry.  Lea was here a couple of years ago when she was her brother’s age with a good friend of hers that grew up in the Philippines.  This is Michael’s first time.  These siblings have grown up on the mission field, so they were taught early about serving other people.  Now that they are back home, they are starting to learn how to use their down time.

Lea was here a little over a week before her brother joined and they have both jumped right into the culture and the ministry.  Most of their days are spent at the children’s home, helping with the house parents (which is an incredible blessing because we are short staffed, pray for quality parents).  Most of the nights they spend with Filipinos seeing the town and the culture.  They’re here for around a month and are setting a pretty steady pace to help us get through this transition.
The other night as we walked through town, we realized we had quite the international crew.  Lea and Michael from Germany, Kerrin from Australia, and Jodi and I from America.  After a few minutes, we ran into our Filipino friends and had a great night comparing cultures over chicken and rice.  It made me think and dream even more about how small this world can really be at times.  Here we were, having our own UN meeting at a fast-food restaurant, and talking about the ministry we had all fallen in love with.  Though we may have nothing in common, God aligned our hearts to a country, a city, and a ministry.  Even if only for a short time, God brought us together to serve as the body.  I’ll refrain from quoting the good ole Epcot theme song, but sometimes I just marvel at how God brings us together…
