I went to breakfast this morning with a girl that just finished her World Race a couple of weeks ago.  The transition back home is never an easy one and it’s nice to have someone around that has been there before you.  I had the blessing of having this when I got home, and was so encouraged again by meeting up with Michelle this morning.  In a couple of weeks, she’ll actually be heading to Spain for some further discipleship and training to hopefully realize her dream and do what she can to help women that have been/will be (it’s unfortunate to think about, but if we don’t remind ourselves it’s happening, then life just gets a little too easy…) sex trafficked.

Throughout our whole conversation, we were sharing dreams and ideas of what is to come.  We talked about some of the experiences we had on the Race and how that was now translating into our current lives back home.  Granted, she’s only been home for a couple of weeks now, but the re-entry funk can hit immediately.  It was encouraging to talk with her because it helped me remember some of the incredible things God has done over the past year, and even celebrate some of the incredible things He has done in her.  Before we got up to leave, she asked if she could pray over me and for all that’s to come.  So we spent a few minutes in prayer and started to get up to go about the rest of our day.
About the time that I was stretching to get up, the guy sitting at the table beside me stopped me.  He asked what all we were talking about and said that he had heard about a lot of the things we had mentioned.  Come to find out, this guy was a student pastor not too far down the street.  We traded a few additional stories, played the name game a little, and then we got up to leave.
Now, I know this isn’t some exciting story of life change or revelation, but when I left, something hit me.  People listen to the things we talk about.  When Michelle and I were talking, direct ministry and outreach were not even on my mind.  All I wanted to do was talk with a friend about dreams for a better future and bringing this Kingdom idea to earth.  However, what happened was someone overheard.  Sure this guy was a pastor, but what is he wasn’t?  He may have not said anything or tried to ignore us.  But either way, he would’ve gotten a full hour of Gospel community talk.
I’ve been doing a lot of lunches and coffee dates recently, and I love them.  I never even thought about the fact that someone else could be listening.  Have you ever thought that God could minister to random people by what you talk about over a meal?  I’m not saying broadcast your conversations so you can share the Gospel at local coffee shops, but God can use anything.  Often times, when we act out of obedience, we don’t even know we were just used.  You have no idea when, where, what, or how God will work and that’s kind of exciting.  Just live a life of obedience and tell the testimonies God gives you…
