Where I am now…
I recently graduated from The University of Alabama where I
majored in Advertising. I played college football for a year at Mississippi
College until an injury at the end of the season ended my career. I did not
stay out of sports for long though, because the next fall I received a job with
The University of Alabama gymnastics program. I worked with them the rest of my
time in college and what started out as a part-time job, ended up being a full-time
position as a student manager. I have now moved on to coaching high school
football, where I just finished my first season. When I wasn’t with the team, I
worked part-time with my church, The Church at Tuscaloosa, helping them through
a transition period in their student and outreach ministries. In the obvious
abundant amount of free time I had, I spent with our Outdoor Recreation program
on campus.
How I got there…
I grew up in the booming metropolis that is Selma,
Alabama where much of my personality and a lot of my stories come from. I grew up outside pretty much and have
been to the hospital for stitches more times than I can remember. I spent my summers at camps and anytime
else I was in the woods with friends
creating our next adventure. I moved to the home of the Crimson Tide,
Tuscaloosa, Alabama later in elementary school and I’ve been there ever
since. As far as my family goes,
they’re the reason I am what I am.
My parents are both former teachers and are the epitome of a good team;
two totally different personalities, but a good balance. My brother Parke is the businessman of the
family and pretty much a genius. He and his wife, Kathryn, are expecting their first
child, Eloise in February and I will be the proudest uncle when that day comes.
Me in a nutshell…
Now that you know where I come from, I’ll let you
in on a very objective view of my personality. My humor somewhat dry and witty
and consists mostly of one-liners. I am a big time people watcher, I promise
it’s not creepy, I just enjoy watching how people interact and carry themselves.
Because of this, I
can come off as reserved, but I promise that is just a first
impression. I am a die hard fan of the Red Sox and Guitar Hero, and that’s where a majority of my downtime is spent. I am a very community oriented person, but I am also a
self-motivated person at heart so I have to remind myself, we all have a
journey. Personally, I technically became a Christian when I was young but
really made a decision when I was 16 after a small group leader called me for 6
months to set up a lunch date. He ended showing me a type of love that only
family can, and that day I realized that there was something bigger than me and
my experiences. I am an open book with my past experiences because I believe
God has orchestrated them into a one and only design for me.
