My spirit is heavy writing about this, I urge you to pray before reading this blog, it involves witchcraft, demonic spirits, and generational sins. Pray that the Lord will reveal truth to you in a healthy way, and that He will have mercy on these people, this town, and this country.
This morning instead of working Benjamin wanted to show us real witchcraft and ways of recognizing it when we come in contact with it. Now before I go any further, this past week Benjamin has been using God’s word and teaching us from personal experience’s on how to deal with such things in a Godly manner and has poured much time into us making sure that we could handle such things that are new to us. Benjamin had us meet him at the church this morning at 7 so we can catch the local chicken bus to go up the mountain and into a real witches cave. I know many people who read this are going to thinking ” yeah right… a witches cave, that’s dumb” But let me tell you that the people in this country STRONGLY believe in such things and its disturbing as to what degree they will go for their gods and deities. We arrive in time to catch the next chicken bus (colorful school bus for town to town transport) and go up into the mountain headed for the cave. Benjamin chose this day because today is the anniversary of a deity called San Simon, who has been worshipped for the past 45 years here in Central America. I don’t know this deities story but I do know that at one point San Simon was a real man. When we get to the site we hop off the back of the bus and start to head down a steep rocky path on the side of the mountain where the cave is located. As we get closer we can see smoke bellowing up from the cave entrance, someone was there already worshipping this false god. When we get to the cave entrance we find an old man and his wife making a burnt offering on the outside of the cave and 2 Guatemalan men paying a witch to make the blessings for them.
Now there’s a whole lot of details in making a offering to these false gods, I will not go into all of it but it involves potions, eggs, alcohol, cigars candles, etc all depending on what it is you are requesting from this false god. Your offering for financial blessing is different from your offering for death or curses on other people. It really disturbed us spiritually to witness this going on I felt a righteous anger rising up inside of me. You can watch my videos to see what went on and what this looks like. I’m only sharing all of this so people can be awakened to what we have witnessed. These things still go on in real life and people are being blinded by satan and his lies that this is what will save them, they believe that these practices will bring them security and hope. I declare before those who read this that JESUS CHRIST is the ONLY AUTHOR OF HOPE!!! We are given hope and a new life by the blood of the RISEN LORD!! AMEN!
When the men finished Benjamin was evangelizing to them for us since we don’t speak Spanish, it was sooo cool because the men were actually receiving what the Lord had us speak to them today. While Ben was speaking Weston and I prayed over these men out loud since they couldn’t understand us anyhow. We asked that the Lord will forgive them for their actions and that one day these men will come to full repentance for what they have done and continue to do. Ben had some Spanish bible tracts that he gave them and the men left from the cave. Just as these men walked off, the old man and his wife walked up and Ben started the same conversation with this indigenous couple. The old man has been practicing witchcraft since a child, it has been a passed on tradition in his family and is part of his Mayan culture. To our surprise again the man actually was open to what Ben had to say, this time I felt led to lay hands on these two people and so as Ben spoke to them I prayed out loud over them and layed hands on this couple. Again I earnestly begged for God to reveal himself to these people and have mercy on them. They know there is a God, and they do recognize Jesus as the Son of God, but through Satan’s Lies and generational sins, this couples lives and the lives of their family members has been enveloped with darkness. We gave them reading material also and they said they would have their daughter read it to them since they are illiterate ( as with 85% of the population here).
We stayed at the cave for another 15 min in prayer, rebuking the practices that went on there and praying for God to continue to raise of men and women of God like Ben and his wife who are not afraid to get their hands dirty and involve themselves in the messiness of another persons life. Please pray for Guatemala and the other central American countries that practice any type of witchcraft which is an abomination to the Lord.
After we were done with the cave we went up to Solola, Guatemala and went into a catholic church there. I was amazed on how much idolatry and deity worship that went on inside the church, and to find out that most of the people who practice witchcraft GO TO CHURCH! Where are the pastors and believers in Christ who actively tell their congregation that such practices are not of God? That these things do not please God, witchcraft will never get you into heaven, John 14:6 “I’ am the way, and the truth, and the Life. No one comes to the father except through me”.
Like I said in the beginning of this blog, my spirit is heavy writing about this. But God did turn this day around by allowing me to recognize a need and letting me minister to a family of 6 who sell random objects for money on the streets. Juan the only boy in the family met me last night and I kinda befriended him, I say kinda because he’s really only interested in trying to get me to buy his products. I asked Juan if he had eaten today and his response was “no because business was bad”. I felt God telling me to feed this young man so I took him to a chicken and French fries vendor on the street and payed for him to have a meal. I asked if Juan wanted to sit and talk about God, he said “he had to bring this food back to his family” so I asked if I could come with him. He said yes and we walked towards the lake where his family was selling their items. To make a long story short God used a conviction to feed one person and turned it into me feeding the whole family and just building a small relationship and using the opportunity to talk about Christ with them. I asked if they wanted any prayer, they said no so I will keep them in my prayers, I will probably never see them again since they live in a town 2 ½ hrs from here and were only here to try and sell their products. Pray that the talk that I shared with this family will activate a need for God and a yearning for The Word of God.
