Just to update everyone on what is going on with my Worldrace experience I am going to write a blog. First, let me say that I am ridiculously blessed. God has been doing all the work for me when it comes to this endeavor. Everywhere I turn there are answers.
He has utilized my Bible Study Group a great deal to lead me. They turned me on to a book If You Want to Walk on Water You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat (long title, I know, but it is awesome) that is helping me grow in faith and figure more of myself out. They also invited me to a Sunday School class where we are looking at Lee Strobel’s The Case for Christ, which has a ton of great notes for Apologetics (comes in handy on a missions trip). To top it all off, they are pretty much my Prayer Squad. They are always throwing shout outs to God for my trip!
God is starting to bring in financial support for the trip as well. I have to give big props to the Shepherd Family for their amazing generosity! My co-workers have been wonderful too; I have gotten several $10 monthly pledges. Everyday God is answering prayers through you amazing supporters! By the way, my goals are:
July 14th – $3,500 (it is fast approaching!)
September 6th – $6,500
October 31st– $11,000 (big leap, this will be a tough one)
December 27th – $15,500 raised (I will be Done Son!)
So if you are waiting to donate, do not wait because we need to hit these marks! Click here to donate now (unless you are waiting because you about to give me a huge check, it which case take your time, take your time…)
Like I said earlier Prayer Support has been stellar, everywhere I go someone is praying for me. Prayer Supporters are normally the unsung heroes; well not with me because with me you will be sung! I know my Mother has been especially diligent about this (she is going to use all of her roll over minutes with God by the time January comes!).
As far as the miscellaneous stuff goes, I have nearly bought all of my equipment and other packing list items. Big sigh of relief when that is over because I am not big on spending money. Next month I am going to get the health insurance and the yellow fever vaccination. Once all of that is knocked out I can start placing all of my extra cash flow towards the Support Fund.
Well that is all I got for now. I will try to be consistent with this whole blogging thing but I do not know my whole free time/internet situation when I move. So, if I am really bad about it 1.) I am relieved because I hate writing and 2.) I am probably super busy which is good because I like working. Until next time…
Prayer Requests:
Pray for my close friend Jake Fields as he has been called to participate in the Worldrace as well (unfortunately he is on a different route than me).
Pray that God leads me to the job that He wants for me because my job contract ends in one month.
Pray that financial and pray support continue to grow for the trip.
Pray that I continue to grow closer to God through this experience.
And of course Praise Him for all the blessings and struggles listed above!
