Week 1 in Medellin Colombia at Ciudad Refugio (CD) is complete. We have been very busy learning and serving. CD is multifaceted ministry that starts early in the morning daily.
At 6 am a core group of women gather for bible studies and head to the 4th floor for hospitality ministry. All the food is by hand (no modern day appliances y’all ) and from scratch. My team and I spend most of our time squaring potatoes, shredding carrots and cabbage and finely chopping onions until 12 pm. The seasoned ladies do most of the cooking. The food prepared each morning feeds everyone who lives, visit, works and volunteers at CD.
The ladies in the kitchen are some of my favorite. They speak little English and my squad & I speak little Spanish but we always find ways to connect and have fun. We love singing Spanish worship songs loudly even if we are off key. Making up beats and crazy little dance move. Teaching each other how to say words correctly in our native tongue, sounding out each syllable out until everyone gets it right. The best part of our relationship is the endless belly laughs over silly things.
So what areas are you serving others in? I would love to hear.
As you my know, I am currently in my 1st month of The World Race. I am 69% funded and truly grateful for everyones prayer, love and support. This process has been a group effort and I couldn’t have done it without everyone. I am still in need of prayer partners and financial donations. Please continue to pray for oneness, unity& maturity over our squad. That our daily interactions with people we encounter highlight the Lord and the ministries we serve with. I am in need of $5,500 to be fully funded. Consider partnering with me financially. The next fundraising deadline is quickly approaching.
