Hi, my name is Whitney Holmes and I was recently accepted to January 2021 Unscripted World Race (WR). I am 34 years old and from Dayton Ohio. I am a traveling Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and 4 year ago I sold everything and have been living out 2 suitcases practicing all over USA. While also volunteering with national and international missions over 9 years. I love traveling, meeting new ppl , serving others and culture submersion. Missions for me, is the sweet spot of life because it is so effortless. I just have to show up with an open heart, mind, and then LOVE on ppl w no other agenda.
I first learned about the World Race (WR) from a racer that attended my church. I remember her fundraising for a missions trip but had no idea what she was doing. Until I saw her FB feed and completely fell in love. I liked and commented on every picture, blog and post. Basically stocking her & other WRacers; living vicariously through them because I was in the middle of Nurse Practitioner school. Meanwhile telling myself, one day I am going to complete the WR. After graduating school and settling into my carrier, 5 years later I have been accepted to Unscripted WR!
What is the WR you ask? The WR is a missions trip where racers go to a 11 countries in 11 months serving, loving on others and partner with established organizations around the world that are doing amazing things. Such as combating the sex slave trade. Praying for the sick. Serving in remote villages. Caring for children in orphanages. Visiting ppl incarcerated or feeding refugees displaced from war torn areas.
The Unscripted WR is unique because it is not traditional like the other WR routes. It leaves behind all plans and expectations. Focusing on praying, listening and doing what God says. Completely unplanned, surrendered and lead by Holy Spirit. Just as the disciple did, outside of a time and location. “The Unscripted mantra is: ministry is life, life is ministry.”
As you can most likely tell, I am super excited to be accepted to Unscripted WR and I look forward to sharing my journey with you.
