My church recently did a sermon series on Hebrews 12.

We took four weeks and my pastor went through the entire chapter in sections and really expounded upon the text. During the four weeks, we were asked to read the chapter aloud each day, and the end goal was to memorize the chapter. It was some of the best four weeks I have had with the bible and parts of it were the most discouraging times I have had with the bible.

I found it really difficult to read the same text day after day. My patience was worn thin by the end. Some days I read it and really searched the passage and tried to find new meaning. Other times I just read through and put my bible down immediately, done for the day. The memorization part was most frustrating. I felt I would never get any of that down.

Little did I know, that although I could not quote it all outright by the end of 28 days, I could however, go back to certain verses in my mind when I was facing difficult situations.

Lately, my faith has been feeling a little shaky. A little worn.

And this verse came to mind, you are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken..

(28)Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful and so worship God acceptably and with reverence and awe, (29) for our God is a consuming fire.

We are receiving a kingdom that CANNOT BE SHAKEN. What better thing to put our faith in than a kingdom that cannot be shaken, that is eternal?

cannot. be. shaken.

I am reminded of how small I am in the scope of how BIG God is.

So I'll stand
With arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the One who gave it all
