Bolivia was a time of getting to know kids who struggle with addictions. We lived in the city of El Alto, which was above the capitol city called La Paz. A place that somehow felt a little different than our previous countries we’ve been to.

Due to the nature of our work, we were not allowed to film any of the kids faces or share their names on social media. Working with Mision Adulam was really great. Their organization whose focus is rehabilitating kids from addictions ran very compassionately. I was very impressed by how they operated, and we all saw the impact the staff had on the kids here. What we discovered is these kids just needed love and a childhood. A lot of them suffered from broken families which lead into gang violence and had many scars both physically and mentally. But you can see their lives change by them finding a new identity in God and a purpose in their lives, giving them freedom from drugs and their past.
I was able to share my testimony to the boys of my addiction to pornography and how I found freedom after many years of battling. I explained the difficulty of battling an addiction and how I had to finally solely rely on Gods strength to find freedom. I was later told that this was a huge impact to them and how it was very relatable with their struggle of drug addictions.

We also connected with them by taking them out to the park for a field trip, and I was able to teach one of the kids how to play one of my favorite song, ‘Give me Jesus.’

At the same time, becaue of our small background in arts, we were asked to paint a mural. None of us have done one before, but we prayed over it consisently as we painted. With Gods timing, we were just able to complete it on our final day in Bolivia. It also turned out to be pretty good for our first time painting a 3 walled mural!

In the end we said our good byes and gave them letters full of encouragement and prayers for each one of the kids. In return, they made us bracelets and letters as well. This month of Bolivia with these kids and this wonderful ministry is something that will always be in our hearts.

Please continue to pray for the kids at Mision Adulam as they are close to re-entering back into society and lead new lives that that will be the future change of this city. Please also pray for the wonderful staff who pour their hearts into these kids and love them so deeply.
