I’ve been thinking a lot on what I’m going to blog on next and I’ve had nothing. So I’m just going to type exactly what comes to mind haha…
Well lately I’ve been dwelling on the phrase, “Everything happens for a reason” and the more I dig into it and think about it, the more confused I get. It even says in the bible-
Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses. He sets the time for birth and the time for death, the time for planting and the time for pulling up, the time for killing and the time for healing, the time for tearing down and the time for building. He sets the time for sorrow and the time for joy, the time for mourning and the time for dancing, the time for making love and the time for not making love, the time for kissing and the time for not kissing. He sets the time for finding and the time for losing, the time for saving and the time for throwing away, the time for tearing and the time for mending, the time for silence and the time for talk. He sets the time for love and the time for hate, the time for war and the time for peace. What do we gain from all our work? I know the heavy burdens that God has laid on us. He has set the right time for everything. // Ecclesiastes 3:1-15
If everything happens for a reason, then why is there so much pain and sorrow to the people who follow after Christ? There is a ton of room to debate on how God consistently intervenes in everyday events. Maybe sometimes He does and sometimes He doesn’t. I thinks sometimes things happen because of what you did to cause it. Sometimes you stub your toe because you just weren’t looking where you were going. We make the decisions of what we do, I don’t think God intentionally made you stub your toe.
Also we have free will. We choose who or what we follow after and whether we’re “good” or “evil”. God doesn’t walk us around like puppets on a string. If that were the case, then why would we as Christians try and make a disciple of someone if they’re already condemned to hell? That’s not the case. Everything is not decided for us. The little things are our decisions and I think how we make them will be our outcome in the long run. God doesn’t make us steal, curse, or lust. That’s just the nature of sin. He is not capable of perpetrating evil because He is good. I think that He lets us take on actions because it will allow us to dwell and learn from them. But, He does has the power to affect things that happen on the earth like our long term will that he has provided for us.
It’s such a touchy subject and everyone has their own opinion on it. I don’t think that we will ever know because we aren’t meant to until we personally stand before the throne of God. Everyone has questions that can’t be answered and that’s when we need to just stand back and accept the fact that we don’t know what the heck is going on.
