I’m a traveler. I love going to new places and seeing fascinating sites. Coming into the race I had heard about the awesome things you get to experience in the countries on your off days; however, I never took into account how we would get from place to place. This month has taught me so many things and one of those things is that comfortable travel only happens in my vehicle back home. I can’t begin to describe transportation here in Romania and I hear it only goes down hill from here. Yay!!! It is something that you just have to experience yourself.
Ill start by telling how we got to our ministry site, Targu Mures. We left Gainesville, Ga at 4 am on September 9 to catch our first plane in Atlanta. We arrived in Atlanta safely and had no major complications catching our flight. We arrived in New York at JFK around 11:30 am with our next flight leaving for Warsaw, Poland at 6:15 pm. After we all had a few hours to grab a bite to eat and do whatever else we wanted we met up to check in. We approached the counter and were told our flight was delayed for 3 hours. Perfect, now we will miss our connecting flight to Bucharest. The lady helping us called Warsaw to see what they could do and they said they would call us back. We all gathered around and prayed that something great would happen and get us to where we needed to be. As soon as we said Amen the phone rang. It was Warsaw and they said, “We will wait for you.” We catch out flight from JFK to Warsaw at 9:30 pm. It takes 8 hours and they are 7 hours ahead of us so we land in Warsaw at 12:30 pm on Saturday. As we soon found out we got played because they did not wait for us. So we were re-routed to Munich, Germany to catch a flight to Bucharest.

We jumped on our next flight at about 8 pm heading to Munch. Once we get there we find out that the plane headed to Bucharest should have left ten minutes before we arrived. This is where things go NUTS!!! We hop off the plane and catch a ride on a bus to the terminal. We have to check our tickets and get our passports stamped on the other side of the terminal. So we Americans start sprinting through the airport to get everything checked and grab a bus to our plane. I say we had 20 minutes from the time we landed until we took off again. I never knew it was possible to do such a thing. We take off to Bucharest and land about an hour and a half later. It is about midnight when we arrive and we cannot catch a bus to the train until about 7 am. We all chill out in the airport and finally get a bus at 7 am.
