Dear Dad:
I stand here on a dusty dirt field in Zambia, Africa. The middle school boys run around me playing soccer. In the distance I see my teammates playing with 100's of kids. They are dancing, singing and talking to them about God who loves them and has plans for their lives. The joy on their faces even a picture couldn't capture.
I never forget the Daddy Daughter Dance in 4th Grade. We went together and danced. You held me in your arms and told me how proud you were of me and how much you loved me. A picture captured that time, but your words captivated the moment.
I think about how thankful I am to be here on the World Race, Dad. How thankful I am that you are my father. That because of your love for me I stand courageous in a dusty dirt field showing Gods compassionate love in the same light of how you've loved me.
Your selfless love Dad, is part of the reason I stand here a confident woman of God. You have always put me first . You love in the details and are not afraid to share your heart. You're a man of compassion and laughter! A man of big dreams and musical talent. Dad, do you know that I am who I am today because of you?
You would give up everything you had to serve Ellis, Avery, mom and me. Gifts-you love to give gifts! You have always provided, nothing was out of reach. You are a good father, Dad. I am so proud of you and so is your family.
Ellis is a man of intelligence. He is stable and has a firm foundation because of your love for him. Despite, what he has been through, Dad, you have always been there for him. Challenging him, growing him he has never questioned your love and respect for him. Your encouragement has helped him to venture out on his own and know he is valued.
Avery is a man of strength. At the heart of Ave is a man of loyalty and bravery. Because of your love and respect for him he has developed great ambitions and is about to set sail in his life. You love in the details and so does Ave.
Mom, she wouldn't be the woman of God she is today without your love and support. Oh, how she loves to laugh. You bring joy to her heart and adventure. She knows your love for her will never fade. And as you grow older together I see why God placed you both in each others hands.
Dad, Happy Fathers Day!
May you know that even though 2 of your kids are far away, your family is still together. That no matter the distance our love and respect for you is stronger than ever! See you in December dad!
I love you Mike Murphy!
Sincerely,
Your daughter,
Wendy Catherine Murphy
