I'm Wendy & I am 24 years old and I was born and raised in Ontario, Canada (in a town called Fort Erie right near Niagara Falls!) I am currently a student at Emmanuel Bible College in the B.R.E. Counselling program, & I will be returning after the WR to finish up my last 4 classes & graduate from that program!
I am SO thankful for the past 3 years I have spent learning and growing spiritually at EBC! God has blessed me with deep friendships, some great ministry opportunities – like doing my placement through an organization called "Celebrate Recovery," a Christ centered recovery program which helps people find freedom from their hurts, habits, and hangups; and I have been given the opportunity to do my internship through Celebrate Recovery; I am overseeing and leading a youth version of CR which is called "the Landing." I am so blessed to be a part of this ministry and for the many opportunities God has given me! I have lived on EBC's residence for the past 3 years, which taught me so much about living in a community and learning to love one another as Christ loved us. I had the opportunity to be a Resident Advisor and by doing so I have learned some useful leadership skills and God has really been working in my life and stretching me and moulding me, and has really shown me He has so much more for me than I believe I am capable of. I never saw myself as a leader before, and I would have been the first person to admit that I did not believe I could be a leader, ever.
My family: I was raised in a family of 7. My parents, 3 brothers (Ken 28, Tim 25, Murray 21) and 1 sister (Bernadette 27). I am the second youngest of 5. I love my family very much, but I am a very independant person and have enjoyed living on my own for the past 3 years. My sister lives in Kentucky with her husband and they have a beautiful baby girl named "Brielle Mykenna." I may live quite a distance away from my sister and niece (who I absolutely adore !) but I am so thankful for both of them in my life and we still manage to keep a strong and close relationship (I usually fly there twice a year for a visit!)

I am so thankful for the opporunity God has placed before me to be a part of the World Race Christian Mission September 2011! I am overwhelmed, excited, nervous, anxious, thrilled, curious and many mixed emotions about this missions trip; however, I have complete peace that this is what God is calling me to do and I know this is going to change my life forever! I am ready & willing to be stretched beyond my comfort, and to grow so much during this time on the Race. I pray that God will change my worldview and help me to see all people as just people who are His children-who He loves. I know this trip is going to change my entire life & I am so ready to give up all my luxuries & comforts to serve others. I am excited to meet those I will be traveling with & I am so honoured to be able to serve all around the world and share the love of Christ, all for His glory and to further His kingdom!
