Embrace is a child sponsorship program similar in nature to Compassion International. There is a great amount of poverty here in Camotan and the surrounding mountain villages. Children in the area are malnourished, sick, and hurting.
The Embrace program is targeting right now 6 mountain villages in the area. Through the program, children and families are given free healthcare, spiritual truth, 50 lbs of food every month (watermelons, carrots, powder milk, sugar, and much more).
Since its inception in 2000, over 700 children have been sponsored and cared for through the program. It is truly a way to help the “least of these” by providing some of life’s most simple and basic needs.
These families will walk down around 3-4 hours down the mountain and then another 3-4 back up (with the 50lb bag although sometimes transportation can be provided) all to receive much needed basic food and health care. We have had the chance to be a part of loving on these families for the past few weeks. The joy on their faces is amazing when they receive all of this provided through their generous sponsors.
