When I first heard about World Race in partnership with Adventures in Mission my reaction was a little more dramatic; “Short term missions and fundraising. No, no, no, no, no that is not for me!!!”
This past year the Lord brought me on a journey of exploration, hearing His voice, revealing His will, disobedience, depression, silence, crying out to Him, stubbornness, obedience, restoration and peace. Kisses from Katie describes this place, “There’s a choice that needs to be made for something that Christ has already paid. To be set free and live in the light allowing fear to take its flight.”
My fear created self-inflicted bondage and separation from God. In the Reluctant Prophet the protagonist states, “A Christian must come to two conversions; first, to recognize that Jesus Christ is Lord. Then to have a brokenness that leads to loving others no matter what.” No matter what, I need to obey the Lord’s voice. I am certain of what the apostle Paul said to the church in Philippi, “…that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6, NIV.)” God is faithful and I am full of peace because of His constant presence.
Long story short I eventually obeyed the Lord’s call to apply for World Race Fusion. In my stubbornness not to go I laid out fleece after fleece (Gideon; Judges 6) and the Lord time after time confirmed His will. I am a future racer for the World Race Fusion team!
World Race in partnership with Adventures in Mission focusses on bringing education and empowerment in a global context through the power of the gospel. World Race connects teams to non-profits and church ministries to bring hope, resources, and healing to their communities. Within World Race there are various routes. World Race Fusion is unique because it is an international team traveling to 11 countries in 11 months (Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines.) Fusion racers love Jesus and speak English, but are from different countries and have a variety of backgrounds. I cannot wait to officially meet my teammates!
One last thought, I want to ask, where are you in the journey? Have you made the choice “…to be set free and live in the light allowing fear to take its flight?” When talking to a close friend about this choice she referenced Alana Nason’s website (theartofleaving.com) “By stepping out of the box (the norm,) you risk never being able to fit back inside it. You’re in a different realm now, there is no going back. Congratulations!” Living in freedom with a heart after Jesus is like this, constant change but an unquenchable joy that follows all the way. Change becomes full of growth and joy in the Lord’s constant presence not full of fear. If life is going to change or even if it is going to stay the same, I want to do it with Jesus. Do you?
One way you can step into faith is through partnering with me as I go on World Race. You can do this by committing to pray. Prayer is SO important and is incredibly powerful because God is real and He is present with us.
