So one evening I found myself on the second floor of an old house in a room with all the names of God artistically painted on the wall.
Rewind, one day we thought we were leaving the city and the Lord said stay. That day a teammate went on a walk with the Lord and found a NGO, Daughters of Cambodia Visitor Center (look them up!.) The team went the next day. As we were leaving connected with one of the western employees, Amy. And before leaving we had not only introduced ourselves and testified to the Lord’s presence and provision in our lives but we prayed together. She (Amy) invited us into her community.
One problem we are leaving or trying to leave the city (Phnom Penh); but the next day comes and the Lord says stay and then stay and stay…
I have shared a little bit about our daily routine and some of you may even be reading my squad mates blogs but let me spell it out for you guys. This year almost everyday I wake up and spend time with the Lord in prayer and silence, go to breakfast/team meeting at 9am where we go through a chapter of God’s word together (right now we are going through Ephesians) pray for requests back home and in our present community, then we do a listening prayer. One person prays inviting the Lord to come, speak and praises His name for He is so good to us. After they are done we sit. We sit in the stillness the seemingly silent table may look like we are all napping or ignoring each other but we are listening. We are not asking the Lord for things or for forgiveness or ???, we are sitting listening. As we listen He makes His will known and impresses people, places and things on our hearts. We end with a prayer of thanksgiving before entering into a time of vulnerable sharing. We share the impressions the Lord left on our hearts. These impressions direct our steps. We long to be used by the Lord in everything we do and every part of who we are so we listen. Community is hard and listening when you have decided already what you want to do is hard. But the Lord, the Potter has taken us, the Clay and is pressing on spots and smoothing out other spots to create a beautiful masterpiece that reflects Himself. After listening prayer we have a logistical meeting where we take the things of the Lord and the things that we “have” to get done and make a plane of sorts for our day. The day always looks different than planned but the Lord is leading us in the Way. At the end of our day we often spend time giving feedback to each other. Then I read or listen to the Bible and worship through music before sleeping. This is a generic outline of everyday.
Back to the story… when we were on a prayer walk that took way longer than anticipated we end up at Daughters of Cambodia and go with Amy to a house. This house is a beautiful gift from the Lord to a group of missionaries from the Philippines. And in the upstairs there is a prayer room with the names of God beautifully painted on the wall.
Ok, so at this gathering of believers we were so thankful encouraged. They all caught the vision the Lord has for WR Fusion. Brothers and sisters were saying, “wow you are living the way I want to live, I wish I could live in so much uncertainty, your life must be so full because you just do what the Holy Spirit says…”
I met an incredible sister named Princes. As we prayed together the Lord began to speak to me about her life and family. I got to share some encouragement with her and testify to the great love of our Heavenly Father. During this conversation she asked, “how can I be praying for you?” I shared a few things with her, the last thing I shared was the uncertain financial situation I am constantly finding myself in and asking her to intercede on my behalf. One of the biggest grins I have ever seen spreads across her face and she says, “Wanz I have to testify.” She goes on to remind me how she is a missionary from the Philippines, in Cambodia to be raised up/trained to start a Daughters of Cambodia in the Philippines (Daughters of Philippines.) She shares how fundraising is nearly impossible and her salary is not quite enough. Pausing looks up at me and says, “this week I got twenty USD from my church and I just have to praise the Lord! If He can meet my needs He is going to meet yours!”
This encouraged my heart so much because it reminded me of all the times that the Lord has used His people to provide for me last minute which is just in time! But also how often I forget what the Lord has done or has promised. So we finally left the city (Phnom Penh) and now are living in Battambang and the Lord continues to speak every morning and provide in incredible ways. Like right now I am laying in an AirCon room where we have running water and a kitchen to cook our food! Oh and it is free! Praise the Lord!More on that to come.
