It always blows my mind how connected Christians are to each other. And this month was no exception. While in India the Lord made a way for us to live with two families and even though we had never met the Holy Spirit connected our hearts and we became a forever family. Everyone has heard of the therory behind seven degrees of separation but this month in India it was blown out of proportion as the Lord made a way for us to live and love.

From a old friend, to a Facebook post, to a connection became a family welcome and a place God moved and healed.

Shout out to Jessica!

As we woke in Kolkata, the sunshine pierced through the window across from my bunk; I think I could wake up in India everyday! Through the favor of the Lord my team got connected to an international married couple who run a children’s home for street children and offspring of sex workers. While there we experienced incredible hospitality and community. Through conversations with the wife we were able to have some encouraging “girl time” and create space for her and her family to rest. We painted flowers and the children pressed their hands to complete butterflies on their roof; a play area for the kids.

Shout out to Shavon!

And we led night sessions of dance, scripture memorization and listening to God’s voice with the children. Mostly playing with them, dressing up in Sari, eating with our hands and helping with English homework made a way to share the Love of Father God with this community.

Our new family has a friend from Hong Kong whose brother goes to a church where the pastor said, “let them come!”

The second half of our month was spent with an Indian family.

Crazy story, our team was split between Kolkata and New Delhi due to sickness. After a few days we were healthy and reunited!

Through the favor of the Lord a pastor who is about to open a Bible school whose wife is a pre-k teacher to Muslim slum kids invites us to stay in their home for free. We were welcomed into the family eating three meals a day with countless coffee and tea times advancing the kingdom together.

Between testimonies, cleaning bathroom floors, shopping in market places, going to ALL the neighbors for dinner, tears at 1am, dance parties, and word documents the Lord did a miraculous work in our hearts and theirs. The second night we were there the wife said, “I prayed for American friends and the Lord sent me six of the best friends. I really could not believe the Lord answered my prayer when you came. I really was so happy.”

As our time continued there the Lord grew our love for this family and the dreams they have to advance the kingdom! We got to be a part of the Bible school starting, visiting the Taj, a birthday party, prayer for healing, restoration and breakthrough and seeing the Lord do miracles. Money appeared from nowhere and hard hearts became soft. Saying goodbye India doesn’t get easier. Till next time!
