Hey my name is Walter Piersma,
For the past few years I’ve been working as a window installer downtown Toronto. Working in construction has taught me to be more of a hands on kind of person. Over the last couple of years I have really felt God calling me to put these skills to use in the mission fields. In the summer of 2014 I attended a two weeks mission trip to Indonesia, where I was able to help with some constructive work in an orphanage. God really opened my eyes during this time, he was able to show me the need for change in the towns and lives of people.
After my trip to Indonesia a couple summers ago, I started to recognize the Lord was asking me to go into mission work for a longer period of time. At the same time, I had seen members of my church community answering their calling to missions. While listening to the work they were doing in the lives of the people they were blessed to meet, I really felt like God was calling me to look further into what I had heard of, Adventures in Missions (ADV). After learning more about the organization and the mission’s program, I felt that God was calling me to serve with ADV on The World Race.
The World Race is an 11 month Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. One of the unique things about the World Race is that it’s not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
I will face many challenges all throughout the World Race, but as I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is my financial support. Like most other missions organizations, World Race participants are required to fundraise financial support. In order to leave fully funded, I need to raise $16,961 (USD). This money will cover all of my field expenses for the 11 months of the trip. As I take this large step of faith in trusting the Lord, would you take time to pray for me and if you feel God calling you to prayerfully consider joining me with financial support.
I want to thank-you in advance for your financial contributions, but mostly for your support in prayer. The Lord has guided me in this direction and will provide for me fully, in this I trust. Prayer is our most powerful tool and where two or more are gathered He is there. Again I say thank-you.
