Blogs and stuff
Hello. I know its been quite some time since I’ve wrote anything but I thought i would give some updates on how Africa has been. I have been on this continent for almost 3 months now. The first month we were in Zimbabwe and we stayed at a hostel owned by a Christian family, Adam and Vikki Burke. They were some of the most amazing people i have ever met. They didn’t have an organization or “ministry” but that didn’t stop them from being the hands and feet of Jesus.
They were very involved with their church and the school there kids went to. We visited a hospital several times to pray for people and talk to and get to know the people there. Our team also spent a lot of time doing prayer and worship for the city we lived in. It was one of our favorite months being able to live with a family like the Burkes. They were an amazing example of what a Godly family looked like and we felt like a pat of it. That month was a cut a little short for me because I came back to the states to go to my Grandfathers funeral. All in all i was gone for about 10 days.
I came back just in time to travel with my team to our next country Zambia. For that month we changed up our teams a little bit. They took all the guys from the squad and put them on one team. So there we were 10 guys in a small town called Kafue were no other world race team had been before. We discovered that to be true when our host (who we were living with) had never heard of the world race. That month had so much potential to be horrible.
Our host didn’t really know what to do with us. He was the principle of a christian school called African Vision of Hope. For the first week all we really did was go to the school for about an hour and say hello to the kids there, sing some songs for about an hour and leave. But that wasn’t enough for our team so we decided to make our own ministry. The school and church we were going to were in some poorer communities so we decided to go do evangelism with all our free time. That was my favorite ministry hands down.
We started out not really having any clue what were doing but we just went for it. We would just walk up to strangers and tell them about Jesus. It was real weird at first but it was exciting and fun and all the fruit we saw from it was incredible. If we were talking to someone who was sick we asked if we could pray for them. A lot of times, nothing we could see happened but that whole month we saw dozens of people get healed. There was an blind lady who can see, a man who gained feeling in his legs, another lady who’s knees got healed, and i could go on and on. It was unreal seeing God work in peoples lives every day.
We left that month very excited and ready to go back to our teams. We headed to Lake Malawi to debrief with our squad. We had our debrief on the lake and it was the most beautiful and relaxing time. We have been at our ministry site for about 2 weeks now in the capitol city Lilongwe. We are living at an orphanage hanging out with the kids here and building a school in the mornings. Its a short months because we travel to a new continent for our next ministry location. Hope y’all enjoyed this update. Love y’all look forward to hearing from you. Ok bye.
