I honestly don’t have too many expectations… just trying to be as open as possible for where God wants to take me and what he’ll have me do.  But there are a few things that I hope I’ll be able to do on my journey.  Here’s my Letterman’s top 12 list (I couldn’t cut it down to 10):

12.   To come back to America… CHANGED.  However that may be.
11.   Build a church
10.   Develop new life long relationships with my fellow World Racers and the people I meet along the way
9.     Memorize more verses than I ever thought I could
8.     Challenge:  Visit Tikal and some Mayan ruins?!  Anything to feed my nerdy side
7.     To forget about and have a new definition of The American Dream
6.     To be put in unique spiritual situations
5.     To be challenged physically
4.     Take a journey to the middle of nowhere
3.     Play some authentic barefoot soccer
2.     Discover my identity in Christ and what He wants me to do for the rest of my life
1.     Have a life-changing conversation with someone who’s never heard about Jesus Christ

My brother shared a quote with me the other day:

How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow?  Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.  What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”  Otherwise you are boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil.

-James 4:14-16

So, even though I have this list of things I would love to do on the World Race (“my own plans”), I know that I should be saying is, “Whatever the Lord wants me to do, I’ll do it.”  Because I don’t know what “life will be like tomorrow.”  So, I just have to be flexible and open for whatever God has for me each day.  And… maybe every once in a while… he'll throw in a Letterman Top 12 for me.
