I walk into a room full of smiling girls ages 8-17. Two of the girls are holding their babies. I don’t know their stories or the hardships they’ve endured. I do know that the Lord loves them unconditionally, I know how to draw with them, I know how to listen, I know how to change diapers. Each and every one of them are beautiful. Made perfectly in the Lord’s image. I’m filled with excitement, knowing that I am about to have so many new friendships, girls to love on, to laugh and sing and dance with. We worship in Spanish together. I see the Lord in them. They inspire me, with their strength, their joy despite the pain of their past, their ability to be a mother even when they are still a child themselves.

We harvest tomatoes that they later sell at the market to provide financially for all of the girls. When harvesting, if you rip a stem off it can kill the whole plant. If you don’t use the special sealant on the broken off stem it can get infected and kill the whole plant. Stems are pieces of our heart that have been hurt, past pain that we have experienced. The Lord is our special sealant that heals and brings us back to whole and perfect healthy condition. The Lord’s healing is specific to each of us. It’s so simple yet so beautiful.

Ministry at Dunamis looks like:

-Putting together plans to teach the girls English (they are so eager to learn!)

-Worshipping the Lord alongside the girls, setting an example for what it looks like to live in the Lord’s freedom.

-Doing daily activities with them (like learning how to make jewelry, learning life skills alongside them)

-Taking care of sweet babies, giving the young mommas a break

-Harvesting tomatoes to sell in the market (to financially provide for them)

-Building a transition house for the girls (so that when they turn 18 they will still have a home and support system)

-Helping in the kitchen cooking food

-Serving the girls, walking alongside them, and loving them the best I can!

The word “Dunamis” means power, potential, and ability. It is used in the New Testament to example how the power of God is available to each of His believers through the Holy Spirit. The power of God is at work in His people, so He may be glorified. The Dunamis foundation aims to transform, renew and empower the girls through the power of the Holy Spirit!

Please pray over life giving friendships, for the Lord to move mightily in all of us, and over emotional growth and healing in the girls. I am so humbled, blessed, and thankful to be walking alongside you all.

If there is anything I can pray for any of you, let me know!

Blessings and love,
