Friday was our day off so we ventured to Cerro Negro which is an active volcano not far from Leon, Nicaragua and did some volcano boarding! Just as a side note….Volcano boarding made #2 on CNN Thrill Seekers Bucket List-50 Experiences to try before you die. Climbing to the top of the volcano was quite the hike through the volcanic rock.
It was really hot up there with no shade.
The scenery was amazing.
We passed steaming vents along the way.
We climbed and climbed.
Finally we reached the top.
We were able to look down into the crater and see the vents steaming.
Now for the fun part! We jumped on our boards and got ready to sail down the side of the volcano.
The ride down was INSANE!
Happy to have lived to experience yet another adventure!
