It is September 6th and in 29 days I will be on my way to Antigua Guatemala. I still don't know the details of our missionary contacts (due to safety precautions) but I can assure you that I will be okay. As the days dwindle down I am beginning to get butterflies in my stomach of all the excitement that is building up. Sure it's going to be tough being away from my family for so long but there is nothing else I would rather be doing that serving others in the next 11 months and having them shape the new me.
Today I began thinking of all the small things (or as World Racers call it, GEAR) that I still need.
So, today as I spent time with God I began asking him to open the doors up for me and immediately I remembered what God told Habakkuk (in 2:2)
“Write the vision, and make [it] plain…” At first when I read this I felt silly. "What do you mean write it down?" Even though I know that God is the ultimate provider I had forgotten that God also wants to show me how he works through the generosity of his people. Sometimes all you have to do is ask, ask others to help.
As you may or may not know, I am the worst at receiving anything not because I don't want to receive things but, because I become super shy (I know what you are thinking . . . REALLY?)
But as I begin thinking about it everyone has been asking
How can I help you?
How is your fund raising going?
How are you paying for this?
Do you still need gear?
So as God asks Habakkuk to write his thoughts down so will I.
