God does amazing things. One of my dear friends is taking a study abroad trip to Costa Rica this coming semester, and her send off party was this past week – which is how I found myself at a breakfast table full of pretty amazing friends. Well, our morning conversation centered around the church and missionaries and our persecuted brothers and sisters. As we shared our thoughts and experiences, I began to relate a story about a couple I had met three years ago in Canada when my family took a mission trip there. I couldn’t remember their names and then mentioned the first name that came to my mind. Suddenly one of my friends exclaimed that she and her sister had met a missionary couple at Walmart that past summer. She shared their names and then I remembered the names of the couple in Canada, and it was the same couple! I couldn’t believe what God had worked out! Not only was it the same couple, but my friend and her sister were going to see them THAT day. Needless to say some of us fell to the ground in amazement and others of us (me) just stood up and walked around speechless with our hands in the air. I ended up going with them to visit the missionaries that day. Isn’t it crazy the things that God sets up for us. My friend Taylor pretty much summed it up: some may say its a small world, but really we serve a big God. This is just one example of many where God sets up divine alignments and interactions. It’s amazing to me that God cares about each of us personally and that He is so active in our lives on an individual level. How big of God He is that He is able to weave not only beauty into my life but into each person’s life on the planet. How amazing the mind of God that He isn’t hindered by time and space nor even different countries to connect people to each other. When I met the missionaries in Canada, I hadn’t even met Taylor. The same is true when she met them in Walmart; she had no idea who I was, yet five months later we were all sitting in a small room listening to the amazing things God had done in Indonesia where this couple served. I guess the purpose of all of these words to show how amazing God is and for your eyes to be on the look out for when He shows up, to be expectant for Him to move in awesome ways.

You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds,
God our Savior,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas,
who formed the mountains by your power,
having armed yourself with strength,
who stilled the roaring of the seas,
 the roaring of their waves,
and the turmoil of the nations.
The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;
where morning dawns, where evening fades,
you call forth songs of joy
