You take your shoes off here.

You find rest or maybe, more so, disorder.

There’s a to-do list attached.

There’s a sense of security.

It’s dysfunctional.

Loud.

Overbearing.

Safe.

We all come from different types of these and carry the essence of them with us everywhere. It’s where we bare ourselves or hide ourselves, yet its There we reside.

Living in the States again does not mean that I am back ‘There,’ though people often ask does it feel good to be _______?

HOME.

Safe.

Known.

A place of comforter.

A house that is full.

A place to kick off shoes and just be.

An invitation to identity and rest that creates well being.

Its a place found only in deep intimacy with others that creates this atmosphere of home for us. Its found in someone who KNOWS us. We carry this with us where ever we go and can invite us others into this as well. When was the last time you rested at home? In the home of the presence of Father God who cares for you?

Because home isn’t a place but the presence of God and it begins with an invitation to rest there which carries over to others that you meet everyday.

This past week has been one of resting in my true home and carrying that to others, letting the Head of the House direct my steps.

Being home is about carrying the presence of my Fathers house everywhere, whether praying for a lady at work today who needed the comfort of a Father over a broken heart, or praying for students this past Wednesday who needed to know someone cared. These are things I want to cultivate in my house and see manifest outside of it.

The things we carry in our house will be the things we give to, invite others into, and pour out to the relationships around us everyday.

—–These next few blogs will be stories about others experiencing the house of the Father.—–

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.”

-Ephesians 3:16-17
