About every two weeks as a team we do something that is called Journey Markers. This Journey Markers resource provides our team with some scripture to study together and then answer questions individually that help us process what we are experiencing on the Race. I want to share one of those questions with you:Describe an event this past week that impacted you and why?

In Jamaica, I completed my first full day of fasting. To me that was a victory for several reasons.

First, I have never fasted from food prior to the Race. Seeing Naomi fast throughout our months together I saw the fruit of it. I saw her relationship blossom with the Lord. I decided to grow in this area and with her encouragement I started off slowly fasting for short periods of time. I began to experience a deeper intimacy with God and realized there is more to Him.

I experienced how God is truly my strength. There were moments when I was so hungry I wanted to cry and had to pray really hard for God to give me the strength. The hunger for food reminded me of the need for Him.

In addition, I didn’t think I could physically fast because of how I constantly shake and experience dizziness. Amazingly I didn’t experience any of those symptoms and had ample amount of energy to go on a walk.He is so good and I am learning every month that there is so much more to Him.
