As many of you may know, my month in Nepal was an ATL (Ask the Lord) month. For the first time in five months we didn’t have a set ministry. I absolutely loved Nepal but it was a challenging month with it being ATL, a new team, things not going the way we planned, and sickness that hit four of my team members. Despite the bumps and tears God answered our prayers for divine encounters. As I look back at the month, there were so many encounters that God orchestrated. These encounters bring my heart an abundance of joy, especially our encounter with Huku.
Huku was assigned to be our tour guide for a five day trekking trip in Pokhara, Nepal. Our trekking trip ended up being only one day because one of our teammates had to be taken to the hospital. The following day two more teammates had to go to the hospital. Huku stayed with us through it all. He ran around making sure the hospital wouldn’t take advantage of us by over charging. He made sure we always had food to eat and were staying hydrated. Our friendship with him didn’t end after five days but instead continued to grow. He joined us for adventures, worship, church, and prayer. He continued to ask good and hard questions about our faith that challenged us and inspired us.
Once we returned from Pokhara to Kathmandu, we had the privilege of meeting Huku’s wife and spent more time getting to know them. One of my favorite memories was when Huku and his wife Metu took us to a neat traditional Nepali restaurant. We are forever grateful for the memories we created with him and that he had became our Nepali dad.
Thank you Jesus for many amazing divine encounters. My prayer for us is to continue to ask God to open our eyes to see His-ordained opportunities all around us.
