A Food blog?
The world race will take me to a lot of new places. I am bound to experience a lot of new foods alont the way. My cousins, suggested that I start a series of blogs specifically related to all the weird and wonderful foods I will be eating along the way.
Launch began this weekend and all the WR squads that will be leaving in January this year, are together at a Holiday Inn in Atlanta, Georgia. We have gathered together for last minute instructions, training, and teaching before we fly out to Australia in the morning. We finally met all of our leam leaders and squad leaders this weekend. They will be with us for the first 4 months of the race. My team leader’s name is Shannon and I can already tell that we will get along so well. Shannon is a kind-hearted, people-person. I am excited to learn from her and hear more about her heart for ministry.
I have special responsibilities within our squad as a Worship Coordinater. These responsibilities are to organize and promote worship within our group and male sure that it happens regularly within each team while we are separated on the feild. I spent the first day of launch going over the logistics of how to preform this role and ideas of how to promote a culture of worship within our small community. I am excited to see how the Lord uses me in the position because stereotypical worship usually revolves around music—an area that I am not particularly blessed in. (more to come on this later 🙂
We have already begun to live off the our World Race budget for meals. This weekend members of our team went grocery shopping to buy food for the days we are in Atlanta. Last night, we enjoyed Quesidillas in the comfort of our hotel room–making use of the hotel iron to melt the cheese in our tortillas. I have a feeling ironing board quesadillas are bound to be one of the more normal things we eat on the race and it was a fun little bonding time with our team to enjoy a ‘starchy’ meal hot off the tinfoil. (message me for the recipe) haha!
I know this is a brief and scattered post, but it is an accurate depiction on everything that is going on this weekend!
Pray for safe travels as we begin our long travel days to Australia tomorrow EARLY tomorrow morning. Pray for rest and health as we circle the globe!
Thank you for your support! You all are the best! I love you and I am excited to write to you soon about what God is doing in the land Down Under!!!
