Have you ever met anyone who hasn’t ever heard of Jesus?

Meet Touch Village in the Kampot Province. A place where Buddism is apparent
everywhere you go. Our first day
of ministry we jumped into evangelism. Vuthy,
our translator and contact, went around with us to the different families
around the village.

Our first family stunned us because they never heard of
Jesus
. They were very open to the gospel. It was hard for us to choose what to
say to these people. Later that evening our team realized that the gospel
contains so much. And while we wanted them to learn all that it had to offer we
were forced to stick to the simple stuff.

I’ll have to admit that it was hard for us to first present
the gospel in its simplest form. We had to ask the questions:
What is most
important thing to present about the gospel?
How do we show them the difference
between Jesus and Buddism?
What do we leave out? After hours of trying to get
it down on paper we finally have it.

Gospel for Dummies. That was going to be my blog title but I
didn’t think it would send the right message. In reality that is what I thought
when we were writing this. Not really dummies but for those who haven’t heard.

Gospel for Unheard.
God made the heavens and the earth. It was good. He made
man to love Him. But man choose not to love him and to be bad. God saw that
people were bad and was sad because they could not be with him anymore. We
could not be with him forever, even after we die. But God loved ALL people so
much that he wanted to fix the problem. So God came to earth as a man thought
his son named Jesus. Jesus lived a life that was all good without bad. Jesus
loved the people that no one loves. He healed the sick. He gave food to the
hungry and talked to foreigners. He even talked to those who did not believe
him when he said that he was the Son of God. Some of these meneven hated that
Jesus said he was the Son of God, even though he said the truth. The people who
didn’t lien him took him and beat him with sticks and stone. They put him to
death by nailing him his hands and feet on a wood cross. But he was innocient.
Jesus sacrificed him self by taking what we deserved for the bad we do. The
good news is that 3 days later, he rose from the dead. This proved to many
people that he was God. 40 days later he went up to heaven to join with God
again. Jesus is alive today. By believing and following Jesus you can join him
in heaven when you die.

It has been working out great to explain this simple
version. I pray that the Cambodians that hear are listening and open to this
ancient, saving story.
