There is this culture.
They’re from the Philippines and they desire to be white.
So much so that they buy stuff to dye their skin white.
These beautiful people change their skin color so they can “be desired”.

There is this other culture.
They’re from America and they desire to be brown.
They go into tanning booths and lay out in the sun to have nice dark skin.
They sometimes use lotion that makes your skin appear dark.

These people change their skin color so they can be beautiful.

Is there something wrong with this?

There are these two cultures desiring to be something other than what they are. Sometimes I feel like people in the world idolize

white people too much. It’s like we have so much that they want. Yet, if they only knew the state of our spirit. If they only knew how we tear apart relationships and families over the things we have. How sometimes our stuff comes before actual people. Americans are very empty people. Do they think that if they had things life would better? Cause it’s not.

I went to the Mall of Asia the other day. Sitting on the side I watch
people walk by. Looking at the skin color of the people, I began to think of the store I walked into with a display for Gluta. The tag line read “Be Desired. Be White. Be Firm.” There were people whose skin I mistake for a white persons at times. I thought of how beautiful their dark skin and flat noses were. God made these people so beautiful so why do they want to be white so bad.
We have this common ground you see.

We all desire to fill that hole that only Christ can.

Other cultures see Americans and the façade that we have put on. We are ok because we have nice cars, and houses and clothes. And they think these things will fill that hole. But inside our hearts are screaming. They want to be loved and desired and content. Since they don’t have Christ they keep buying and searching.

Without Christ, Americans are as empty as any Filipino.

The marriage trouble, joblessness, broken families, desire to end lives, crime, physical impairments etc. won’t go away with new things. Because really Americans go through the same things. There is only one thing that can satisfy.

CHRIST.

If only I could shout this answer off the roof tops in every tongue, tribe, and nation. Jesus said I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10) Not that they will have abundant things but a life filled with the abundance of Christ. That their life is filled with the joy, hope and love that Jesus offers.
